PETALING JAYA: It is unfair for the Opposition to feed false information
to the public just to win votes in the general election, Umno Youth
chief Khairy Jamaluddin said.
"For example, he (Opposition chief
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) defamed Felda, saying the organisation was
bankrupt," Khairy said.
He added that the PKR adviser reacted in
such a way because he was jealous with Barisan Nasional's success over
the past 50 years.
Khairy also condemned the Pakatan Rakyat
administration in Selangor, saying that Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid
Ibrahim failed to manage the resources well, putting the state at the
risk of facing a water shortage by 2014.
"I am not afraid to be
sued for my comments as long as my message is heard by the public,"
Khairy said after officiating at a gotong royong programme in Taman Desa
Ria.
He admitted that Barisan had faced some problems during the
2008 general election but had strengthened itself.
Khairy urged
the public to vote wisely in the next general election so as not to face
such problems again.
Earlier, Khairy said the gotong royong was a
good way to get to know the people and their problems.
A booth
set up by the Election Commission registered 450 new voters.
Khairy
said the ruling coalition had registered 53,000 new voters since early
this year.
Khairy, together with Kelana Jaya Umno Youth division
chief Ahmad Affandi Hamzah, donated foodstuff to 10 families in the
area.
