Pakatan Rupture
YB Zulkifili Nordin (PKR - Kulim Bandar Baru) walked into Parliament yesterday as I was debating the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board Bill. His sudden appearance in Parliament having gone MIA after being prominent in the protest against the Bar Council on 9 August puts to rest the ridiculous rumour spread by the Opposition that YB Zulkifli was detained under the Internal Security Act. In fact, I suspect that rumour was initiated by YB Zulkifli himself to deflect from mounting criticism within his own party over his role in the demonstration.

I also note with interest that notwithstanding the PKR leadership's censure of YB Zulkifli's actions, he remained unrepentant and defiant when launching further attacks on the Bar Council . Although YB Zulkifli has refused to back down and toe the party line, PKR Chief Whip, YB Azmin Ali (PKR - Gombak) has let YB Zulkifli off the hook by accepting his explanation. It seems YB Azmin's decision to allow YB Zulkifli to continue to maintain his position against the Bar Council is inconsistent with the stand of the PKR and Pakatan Rakyat leadership.

This is not about whether YB Zulkifli is right or wrong. This is about the fundamental ties that bind this so-called political coalition that has designs on running this country very soon. Why is the silence of the Pakatan Rakyat leadership deafening in the face of YB Zukifli's open defiance of his own party's censure? Why is the normally glib YB Lim Kit Siang (DAP - Ipoh Timor) not chastising YB Zulkifli for defending his action at the Bar Council which was condemned by many DAP leaders? Is the self-proclaimed PM-in-waiting, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, unable to prevent his own MP from repeatedly breaking ranks with the party line?

Let's not forget that YB Zulkifli was not alone at the protest outside the Bar Council. YB Salahuddin Ayub (PAS - Kubang Kerian) was also present to lend his support to the demonstrators. What are the views of YBs Lim (Senior and Junior) on YB Salahuddin's presence at the Bar Council? Or is it more silence? Is DAP's deafening silence over the YB Zulkifli issue a signal that DAP is willing to compromise its stand for the sake of keeping up Pakatan pretenses in its quest for power? YB Lim Senior should spend less time obsessing about Gerakan's role in Barisan Nasional and focus his jurassic energies on preventing a rupture in Pakatan Rakyat.

Already PAS has made clear in no uncertain terms that it is unhappy with the overbearing dominance of PKR and DAP in states governed by the PR alliance. Its senior leaders have also questioned publicly Dato' Seri Anwar's suitability in becoming the Pakatan Rakyat nominee for PM if the mythical 16 September materializes. Similarly, there is no love lost between DAP leaders and PAS and it is well-known that the two parties are only tolerating one another for the sake of power.

Add to this underlying tension the latest episode involving YB Zulkifli. Pakatan Rakyat leaders can extend their deafening silence for now. Dato' Seri Anwar and YBs Lim will skirt and fudge the YB Zulkifli issue because they don't want to address it during the Permatang Pauh by-elections. They want to keep up pretenses, showing the nation that everything is hunky dory in the Pakatan Rakyat camp. They are willing to suspend principles for politics by not addressing the YB Zulkifli issue head on, just like Dato' Seri Anwar fudged his response on the proceedings at the PAS Muktamar last week.

Well, obfuscate all you want but the writing is on the wall. The marriage of convenience has been exposed for the sham that it is. The deafening silence over the YB Zulkifli issue by Dato' Seri Anwar and DAP will only succeed in postponing the inevitable. For all its talk of a new Malaysia and a real alternative against BN, Pakatan Rakyat remains a politically expedient arrangement among strange bedfellows bound not by a shared ideology but by a common lust for power. The rupture has begun.

Kepada Komentar no 34.Muhammad Khalidi Ramli,

Komen saudara = 21/08/08 i.e 6 hari selepas saiful bersumpah.
So purata 1 hari = 6.3 negara.

I rest my case.

p/s : Bang kalau nak kelentong pun berpada-pada la.

RASUAH DALAM UMNO

Posted by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at August 19, 2008 5:55 PM | Permalink | Comments (356) | TrackBacks (0) | Previous Blog

Matamu menipu Alam hai Anwar Ibrahim:
1. Wudhuk: Kita di Malaysia dah terbiasa wudhuk start dgn basuh tangan, kemudiam kumur dan last basuh kaki. Andai kita kita US, UK, Mesir, Arab Saudi, Bahrain dsb, kita akan jumpa org Islam yang ambil wudhuk start dgn basuh kaki dahulu. Mereka guna tertib mereka. Kita guna tertib kita. So what? Apa masalah besar? Kami masuk solat Jemaah sama-sama.
2. Solat jemaah: Kita kat Malaysia…lepas solat ada wirid…..ada doa berjemaah bersama Imam. Siap Aminkan doa kuat2. Ulamak Saudi kata Bidaah..dekat2 dgn haram..Kat Saudi solatnya berbeza. So what? Tiap2 tahun berjuta pergi Haji atau Umrah..balik tak buat ceramah umum pun kata solat org Saudi tak sah dsb..Tapi bila saiful buat Sumpah Laknat kata dia di liwat Anwar Munafik ni..heboh buat ceramah umum…kata sumpah Saiful tidak sah dsb. Sampai Azmin Ali yg solat 5 waktu pun berterabur nak komen. Ni ler ulamak PKR. Kirim salam kat Azmin..agar bagi overhaul adik dia AZWAN ALI dulu agar jadi lelaki tulin..jgn dok berkepit dgn Jantan kat Pavillion KL…So, saya nak dgr apa kat Ulamak PKR & insan yg fanatic Anwar..apakah Ulamak Kota Mekah & Madinah ni sesat macam UMNO sebab cara solat berbeda. Kita tahyat akhir dok bersimpuh. Kat Saudi tahyat akhir dok biasa macam duduk antara dua sujud.
3. Solat Subuh; Kita satu Malaya, zaman berzaman solat subuh berjemaah mesti Imam baca Qunut. Kalau terlupa dia sujud Sahwi. Cuba kita gi Solat kat Perlis & Brunei. Ada Qunut tak? Bab Qunut ni pun dah berbeda caranya. Jangan cakap bab sumpah. Bab Qunut pun kita berbeda pendapat! Berani kita cakap solat Subuh Mufti Perlis tu tak sah? Berani kita cakap Solat Subuh Mufti Brunei tak sah? Mentang-mentang Saiful tu orang biasa, Anwar tu pemimpin PKR, maka semua yg Anwar cakap betul? Anwar tu malaikat ker?
Tepuk dada Tanya selera.

Dear YB Khairy,

It is nothing short of amusing to hear this sort of cheap political talk coming from you being one who holds a high position within Umno when the whole of Malaysia can see that Umno/BN itself couldn't get its own house in order. Stories of leadership infighting at grassroots level that goes all the way to the top, rampant money politics, emerging factions, dissenting component parties, dying component parties, accusations by divisional leaders on corruption by top brass of Umno and the list goes on and on and on...

Umno is just an utter FAILURE...plain and simple. Sad yet true..

Dear YB...Just because one MP seems to have put his own views forward in rather abrasive manner that may not necessarily give an indication that the whole coalition is about to collapse. If thats how it should be perceived then what about the growing grouses in BN with the latest being the so-called voices from Gerakan wanting it to leave BN? Those voices and not to mention the other 'surpressed' voices as well within BN clearly means (going by your perspective) that its just a matter of time before the same fate befalls BN? As it is a few of the BN components e.g Gerakan, MIC, PPP etc do not have the purported support from the rakyat. Or how about the actions of SAPP? What does that tell us? Is SAPP 'toe-ing' the party line? Or perhaps the actions of Gerakan and SAPP have slipped your mind while writing this?

Perhaps you don't understand what democracy means, dear son in law, but being in a party doesn't mean you revert into being a lemming like what happens in UMNO. No, people in PKR, PAS and DAP are allowed to speak out and criticize their leaders, and this is the hallmark of true democracy. I did not agree with Zul's attack on Bar, but the way it is handled is satisfactory.

Democracy does not mean stifling of speech from members of the party. Not like UMNO, Khairy. Never like UMNO.

PR is about as fragile as an Italian government. You cannot pretend to have a workable coalition when you have parties fighting for mutually exclusive causes.

Say what you want about race-based politics and the BN, at least member parties come to the table not trying to destroy each other's agenda. Strategic negotiations there will be, and UMNO may have been the first among equals for far too long, but its constitution does not prescribe something completely at odds with MCA or MIC.

In PR, you have PAS struggling to hide its sworn agenda to establish an Islamic State complete with Hudud laws, as well as DAP as the bastion of secular politics. PKR on the other hand, is built around one man and no amount of lofty rhetoric about justice and anti-corruption can hide that fact. How can PR work?!

That said, it's quite amusing to watch PR trying appear like a government-in-waiting when their house is in a big mess.

Whatever Anwar ibrahim is saying is all sweet nothings. when he was a student leader back in the day he cried for reforms, and then he entered UMNO, and what did he do? Did his worst. so what makes the people think he will reform this time around?

Mahathir created the system and Anwar made it better for himself. now he cries Reform. nothing will change with Anwar if he takes govt. Look at how he is buying out BN MP's? Its just like what he did for UMNO in Sabah.

Growing Pains I think. Rather see this that see parties emasculated in an overbearing alliance they have no control over and regret beong a part of.

Differences of opinion are normal, no big deal.

Things like this are bound to happen. There are fundamental issues between the 3 parties of Pakatan Rakyat yet these same differences are also prevalent in BN.

YB,

You just look at how PKR and DAP shortchange PAS. Nizar isa puppet in Ipoh and so is Junior, with Kit Siang the puppet master. Junior clearly aint chip off the block, as he is not a very articulate politician neither is he strong on the policy front. the state of penang now only concentrates on the welfare of a certain race.

State exco meeting in perak, cannot be done, if Ngeh Khoo Ham and Nga Kor Meng are not present, this is because a clear case of a side agreement that Nizar cannot make decisions without them.

Land issues in Perak only malay reserve nizar can decide, even that must go by Kor Ham. The rest Kor Ham controls including state GLC's such as appointment of office bearers, directors and management. ONLY THING PAS DOES IS HANDLE RELIGIOUS ISSUES!!!! Puppet = NIZAR IN PERAK.

PKR stands for parti kelentong rakyat, thats what they do best. cheating and kelentonging the people from perlis to sabah from the young to the old and from morning until the day ends.

have you pas people forgotten the attacks and slanders launched by anwar when he was in the government? have you the indian people forgotten the high-handed approach he deployed in resolving disputes between the mosleem and the indians in penang? and have you whoever you are forgotten what he said in the past and when is saying now?

the only thing that is constant and consistent is his inconsistency.

Greetings YB,

Another obvious crack is that the so-called Anwar symphatisers in PAS are also acting against the likes of Mustafa Ali, Nasaharuddin (Hadi behind it?) and left the muktamar to support Anwar in PP.

PKR are full of dichotomies and contradictions. The rallying point is Anwar's ill gotten money that funded both PAS and DAP in GE12. Imagine PR without anwar? The wheels will fall off instantly. Kamaruddin Jaafar is the only 'glue' that sticks PKR and PAS apart from the blood money. To make it worst, Kamaruddin Jaafar was one of the biggest Anwar cronies 10 yrs ago.

And YES YB, where were the LIMS's at the Bar Council protest? If at all they were the unseen hand behind Ambiga.

YB, you must expose more of these inconsistencies.
